Outdoor Retailer Show, Salt Lake City

This August, Vertical Girl had the opportunity to showcase their clothing at the Outdoor Retailer Show in Salt Lake City. Vertical Girl is a very young company, and they take pride in their athletes and products. As an athlete for Vertical Girl and the creator of Girl Beta, my main role at the OR was to get to know more people in the industry and promote our products. As an added perk, I got some free products from other vendors. I’m here to tell you about some of them.

First off, Vertical Girl gave me some new product to try. I have to say that their Signature Bra is the most comfortable bra I have ever worn, plus it makes me look and feel like I have boobs. Yay! The material is super soft and the straps cross in the back, making it the look very athletic and beautiful. The new shirts are also very comfy, with non-fading bright colors.

Detroit Rock Climbing Company supplied a very nice bright pink hang board, designed to have varying finger pockets and positions. The holds are rounded so that it is kind to the fingers in terms of skin and ligaments.

Organic Climbing supplied various bags. The chalk bucket has brilliant colors, a zipper compartment for files and nail clippers, and a buckle system to strap down the bag, making it compact. The chalk bag has a soft lining and is big enough to fit my hand. I hate when I can’t reach the chalk because the bag is either too deep or the opening is too narrow. Organic’s chalk bag is neither of those. They will also be sending me a new larger size messenger bag to try, which I am excited for.

I was fortunate enough to be at the World Premier of Chuck Fryberger‘s new climbing flick “The Scene.” This one stands above his other films, showing us the life of climbers in greater detail. He managed to showcase most aspects of climbing from trad to comp climbing, all with fluid transitions, something other climbing films have failed to do. This was a job well done. Thanks to Chuck and his team as they continue to inspire the community.

Asana and Vertical Girl teamed up to throw a sick party at the Vertical Girl house. Those Asana boys know how to party. Thanks for good times fellas!

In all, the OR was a great event, with tons of traffic coming through the VG booth and more people learning about Girl Beta. A big thanks to Jenn Quattrocchi and Richard Johnston, owners and operators of VG.
